Bajaj has launched a new entry-level model in its EV lineup called the Chetak 3001 at Rs 99,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 3001 replaces the erstwhile Chetak 2903 and now all Chetak models have moved onto the new chassis platform that debuted last year with the launch of the Chetak 35 models.

Bajaj Chetak 3001 range and charging time details
Gets big 35 litre boot and some connectivity features as an option
Powering this new Chetak 3001 is a 3kWh battery pack which is rated for a claimed range number of 127km, although whether this is an IDC claim or a real-world one hasn’t been specified. A rather fast 750W charger is supplied with the 3001 and this charger can top up the scooter’s battery from 0-80 percent SOC in 3hours and 50 minutes.
Since the 3001uses the same frame as the more expensive Chetak 35 models, it has the same 35 litre underseat storage area – which is one of its strongest USPs especially considering its positioning in the growing EV sector.
Bajaj hasn’t revealed what sort of power the Chetak 3001’s mid-mounted motor makes nor released its top speed. That being said, the Chetak 3503 (the next step up in the Bajaj EV family) has a top speed of 63kph, so it’s quite likely that the 3001 shares that setup. Just like the 3503, the new 3001 also uses drum brakes at both ends. And as has been an enduring Chetak hallmark, the 3001 too comes with a full-metal body.
The Chetak 3001 comes with a colour LCD display and when you equip it with the accessory TecPac you can access features like call and music control. Other features of the scooter that are bundled into the TecPac include guide me home Lights, hill hold assist, reverse light and an auto-flashing tail light.
Specifications such as motor power, top speed, dimensions of the vehicle and the TecPac subscription cost haven’t been shared in the press release. We have reached out to Bajaj for a response on these matters and will update this story when we receive a response.
Bajaj Chetak 3001 price and colours
At Rs 99,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Bajaj Chetak 3001 is now the most affordable model in the lineup and at its price, not only does it undercut a large chunk of other Indian EVs, but also is more affordable than some 125cc petrol scooters. It is available in three bright colours – red, yellow and blue – and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.
The Chetak has seen serious growth in the last couple of years in terms of sales numbers and with this new entry-level 3001, we only expect it to bolster its presence in the market further.
